I'm new at this, but I will try and fill you in on what has been going on in our lives. We have 5 children, and 2 son-in-laws. Shelby, our 2nd daughter got married in Dec of 2005 to Ricardo. Then about 6 weeks later I discovered a lump in my breast. I wasn't to concerned, but we figured we better check it out. I went to the Dr. and they sent me for a mammogram and biopsy, in 4 days I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a shock, but I felt such a peace, I knew my life was in God's hands. I was surrounded with prayer and support from the start. My family, church family and friends. It was awesome! It has been quite a journey, but I felt God right there, and He worked out every detail, that was no coincidence. My Dr. and my nurses were awesome, so supporting. One of my nurses is actually going to my church now. I can't tell you enough of how good God is! It was very hard, but I wouldn't trade the peace and comfort I felt through it all.
I had surgery the next week, and they did a lumpectomy, and took some lymph nodes, they thought they had it all, but when they sent the lymph nodes in to the Pathologist, they found a trace. I ended up having another surgery, and they removed 23 lymph nodes with 2 positive for cancer. I ended up having chemo treatments and after that radiation. Of course I lost all my hair, and the chemo made me very sick. I don't ever want to go through that again. Again, God was right by my side the whole way through, and my church brought me meals and prayed over me constantly. The radiation wasn't hard, I'll take it any day over chemo. I finished my last chemo treatment July 5, 2006 and started radiation soon after. Then in August our oldest daughter, Dawn got married to Brandon. I finished radiation in September 2006. Praise God we made it through. I am on "Evista" an after cancer pill for 5 years. So far I don't have any side affects from that. I did develop mild lymphedema in my left arm from having all those lymph nodes removed. I've had some therapy, and wear a sleeve depending on what I do. I could go on and on about what all God has done for me and worked out so many things, but I don't want to make this to long. He is so good, and I love Him so!
My hair is growing back, and is really curly and rather unmanageable, but hey at least I have my own hair again, after wearing different wigs. They told me its normal after having chemo that it often comes back in curly than will return to what it was. I'm getting my strength back and feeling more and more my normal self.
My awesome husband has been there for me through all this, I thank God for him. He is the best! I know the past 2 years have not been easy for him. He was trying to get his buisness going in the midst of this, and marrying off our precious daughters, but we gained 2 wonderful sons. He finished and sold 2 speck houses in the past 2 years, and now he is doing finish carpentry.
We have 3 children at home yet, and we homeschool. Adam is 18, and out of school. He plays drums, snowboards, rock climbing, and anything dangerous. Autumn is 15, and she has her permit and Gabriel is 14 and will be getting his permit this fall. It's hard to believe, he's our baby. We are also expecting a grandbaby in July. Dawn is 7 months pregnant, they were quite surprised as they weren't planning on one right away, but God had other plans, and we are all very excited! Shelby and Ricardo live about 25 minutes away. Dawn & Brandon live about 5 minutes away. We are so blessed, and we really enjoy being together as a family. I will try and post wedding pictures and all.
Thats all for now.
